A tiny weekend project

This weekend was yet another dreary one. And really I feel like a party pooper just to bring up this nasty weather again. But it's nasty. Moving on shall we?

I haven't been on Instagram for long, but like many of you I love it! Besides this blog and my company's Facebook page it's the only social media I've got. Many days I forget to take our good camera out and my iPhone and Instagram have been great! I wanted to have some of my favorite Instagram photos to look at in the future so printing them was a good option. I started looking around for inspiration and found Printsagram. Through Printsagram I clicked a few of my favorites and they were sent to the printer immediately. After just a few days my mini prints arrived. So simple and so easy.

The wall over our dinning room table was still empty (like many of the walls in our apartment) so I thought the prints would be the right fit. Here are a few steps for a quick and fun rainy day project using printed Instagram pictures.

1) Head over to your favorite Instagram printing service

2) Choose your photos! In my case that was 48 mini prints for $12. This step was particularly hard. I love so many of the pictures I've taken of River. If it was up to me each and every mini print would be of her. (Lets be honest, most are)

3) Plan. I went throughout our apartment figuring out what would be the best location for the photos. Once I settled on that location I decided what I wanted the prints to spell out.

4) After you've planned, arrange. I arranged and rearranged the prints on the table before committing.

5) With an extra set of eyes I taped the photos on the wall. Since I am horrible in "eyeing" things, I recruited the husband to help.

And you are finished.

I do have to say, that since we also moved our table over I am still getting used to it all. I like it a lot, but I am a bit neuritic when it comes to our home. So do not be surprised if it gets changed around or completely removed sooner rather than later.

And if you ever come over for a meal you'll know what to do at our dining room table right?!

That kind of afternoon

^^ I mean, really? I can't handle this beautiful man sometimes.^^

Sometimes I forget how great it is to have another pair of hands around. After Peter works for weeks and weeks straight River and I develop our own little routine. It's something that we both have down and I look forward to. It makes the day go smoothly and we both are (usually) in the best mood because of it. But when Peter is home our routine goes out the door and all play dates usually are canceled. We try to fit in as much as we can as a family. This day our family time included a relaxing trip to Central Park. After  spending the previous day on a roof getting a serious tan, Peter was looking forward to laying under a huge tree in a grassy field of green. And that is exactly what we did.

What mama wears

Mother's Day edition

I really, really loved my Mother's Day dress this year. Every year I wear a dress, and this one beat out the rest. I thrifted this sweet thing a few days before the occasion and at a good $15 it stole my heart. It was comfortable, had that special something, and it had vintage appeal without having me lose my shape in the mix. So excited to wear it again.

A few things

1. There is something about watching River play in the sun with flushed cheeks and wide eyes that makes me also feel like a child. A child in the best way possible.

2. I am planning a trip to visit my good fried Drea and her sweet Marlowe. New York has been having these rainy and chilly days, and then some are so full and sunny. It'll be nice to get some real constant sun in Florida with good friends. I can't wait!

3. The apartment is coming together. Finally. Everything is officially unpacked and right now I am just working on adding to it. If I didn't say it before, we purged pretty drastically before moving and now it's all about digging for new vintage treasures. My thrifting trips have been pretty constant lately and it fills this part of me like no other. I do have to say I have been very selective with this new place, so most days I do not bring anything home. Nothing like a good ol' pop in. ;)

4. I am in talks with a pre-school co op for River to attend in September. Even though I am pretty excited I am also nervous. She is still my baby!

5. My Mother's Day gift arrived today! It was a little patio table and two chairs from Ikea that I wanted. Yippie. Peter is actually cooking dinner as I blog (double yippie) and we are planning on dinner in the back. Summer nights here we come!

Mother's Day in photos

If I have learned anything in the past few weeks it's that life, and the choice to parent a child is a true blessing. All of us aren't given the chance, and many of us are... then it slips through.

I think everyone anticipated this day to be a difficult one for me, but it wasn't. It was easy. Mostly because my outlook on being a mama has changed. I am even more thankful for this life I have, and the lives I am able to give through my body. Also, the one I haven't been able to to give. I have come to terms that River was God's choice, and so was our other baby, and as the same with the next one if we ever choose to have more. This Mother's Day I did not think of what I was lacking, but more-so what I have been given. And that is something that brings me to tears almost every time.

We took it easy this Mother's Day. Peter has been working like crazy, spending four to five days on set and the others editing from home, so we all just wanted relaxing family time.  It was the first time we stayed in our neighborhood for Mother's Day, and really, that was the best decision for us all. We met a few more local families, ran into old friends, enjoyed turkey burgers at the best burger joint and River made new friends as daddy looked on and as I relaxed at the park. We ended our family day with ice cream, a new River Mae favorite.

I then headed to dinner with my mother and sister where we all exchanged gifts (we got each other shoes of course).  I love our girl time that we have. My sister and I are close in age, and we are best of friends, and since my mother had us at a young age we also have this friendship bond with her. I wouldn't change it for the world. I can't wait to have that with River one day!

My cheeks often hurt from smiling too often, and my stomach often hurts from laughing too hard and it's all because of these two right here. They make me the happiest.

Happy Mother's Day

Diana Ross and her girls

Happy Mother's Day! I hope wherever you are you know what a great person you are and the gravity of what you give! Take a load off, you deserve it.

What mama Wears

Mama is wearing: Peter's sweater ;), Les Halles jeans, vintage shoes, H&M bag and H&M necklace

All hail the husband's sweater. That sweater that sits so nicely in his bottom drawer waiting to be worn. The sweater that was a gift about two years ago from yours truly, and the sweater that was only worn by the mister a handful of times.

Yes, that sweater.

That sweater is the sweater that has been getting me through this awkward weight and seasonal transition. Some days are warm, some are rainy, some are chilly and when there was a day with a little bit of both this sweater saw me through. It's comfy, it hides all the unwanted nooks and crannies and it's black. Voila!

Do you have a piece of your partner's that you constantly steal?
